Do you have a Facebook Fan page? I'm sorry, a business page? Do you know where your fans are coming from? Have you posted your Facebook badge everywhere it possibly could be put? Like your blog, your website, your twitter, and even your LinkedIn profiles? These are just some places where your Facebook business profile can invade the rest of your social media marketing efforts. It's not that you don't have enough time to keep up with all the social media marketing for your business, just in order to keep your presence in the fore front of your target audiences mind , but it is soooo time-consuming. Almost as much as the daily operational stuff you have to do!

So what is a small business to do? If you are a solo entrepreneur and time is of the essence, especially since you wear so many hats throughout the day, you really need to schedule the social media marketing time into the day. So tell me....Do you think Facebook mixes with your business?

* Well, what is the purpose of your business?
* Do you share content and change it intermittently on your website or is it static?
* Do you showcase products or services?
* Do you have a shopping cart on your website? That you could promote on your Facebook biz page.
* Do you participate in online advertising? with Facebook ads?
*Are you able to gather that information from the ad that is clicked on Facebook?

* How many followers do you have?  If you look at your Insights stats for your Fan page, you'll notice that more people follow you than actually "like " the page.  So people are watching for your posts.

***New to Facebook Fan pages as of just the other day, 2 days before Christmas, you can now track on insights your weekly stats and monthly stats by the day.  And it accumulates it as well.

What now needs to be measured and added to the insights, which will be helpful for Facebook business users, would be the translation of followers to actual sales conversions, a contact me tab, etc.  (Just some suggestions Facebook and Zuckerberg!)

The other thing that is of concern, and with this "New" wave media promotion of your product or service, be wary of maintaining your reputation.  An online reputation should be of your primary concern,  as well as the customer service that goes along with running a business.  You need to maintain this just like the old-fashioned way of the "word of mouth advertising"  that is the most coveted and relied upon heavily by most business owners.  But, now you really need to add this to the mix.

Word of mouth reputation was done by way of phone calls, referrals, in person, etc.  Now, it also includes online and posted on the Facebook fan page, Twitter, FriendFeed, Plaxo, Digg, Mashable, Stumble!  and all the other online sites where a friend or followers are finding out about your company.  Whether it is good or bad comments, it must be maintained on a regular basis and addressed.

These are just some suggestions  you need to plan for  your business practices to find out the best avenues to promote your product or service.
